COVID-19 Update (April 6, 2020)
April 6, 2020
We would like to offer our prayers for those lives that have been lost due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and express our heartfelt well wishes to those who have been infected. Olympus has set up a global task force to ensure business continuity as the novel coronavirus spreads, and we are taking various measures to maintain supplies of products and services while carrying out our top priority of protecting the health and safety of employees, healthcare professionals, patients, and communities.
In response to the rapid increase of infections in Tokyo, in principal, all employees of Olympus Corporation and Olympus Group companies in Tokyo were originally instructed to work from home until Friday, April 10. However, due to the situation's further deterioration, this period of work from home has been extended to Friday, May 1. Furthermore, the instruction now also applies to additional areas experiencing a significant increase in infections: the metropolitan area surrounding Tokyo, Hokkaido, the Tokai and Kinki regions, as well as Fukuoka prefecture. Further action beyond May 1 will be finalized upon assessing the current situation at that time.
Despite these unprecedented circumstances, Olympus continues to ensure continued supplies of products and services to customers. As a global company, we have formulated plans for comprehensive coordination so that we can minimize the impact on the health and safety of our employees and our business operation, and so that we can endure through this crisis. We will remain vigilant and aware of our surroundings.
